The universe?! That seems vast, IMO.

Last year was the first D23 Expo in Anaheim.  I won’t go into depth about the D23 Expo but I will tell you this: It’s Disney. It’s an Expo. It’s like all the nerdiness of Comic-Con but all Disney. It was awesome! And I plan on going back in 2011. (It’s not annual. Which is LAME!)

(D23 is more than just the Expo. Learn more about the cool kinda new Disney fan club at www.disney.com/d23 but hands off of Jeffrey, the Disney Geek! Not that he wants my hands on him. Ahem. Love you Jeff!!)

Anywho…The Walt Disney Company, both last year and for next year, have this disclaimer which boggles my mind:

NOTICE – FILMING/PHOTOGRAPHY AT EXPO – D23 will be filming/photographing at this location throughout the D23 Expo. By attending the D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center, you irrevocably consent to and authorize D23, its parent, affiliated and subsidiary companies, and their respective successors and assigns (collectively “Producer”) to photograph and make sound recordings of you, and use such photographs and recordings throughout the universe, for any purpose whatsoever in all known and hereafter existing media and in any language in perpetuity. All such photographs and sound recordings will be the sole property of Producer.

Ok here is my favorite part…”to photograph and make sound recordings of you, and use such photographs and recordings THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSE, FOR ANY PURPOSE WHATSOEVER, in ALL KNOWN AND HEREAFTER EXISTING MEDIA and in any language in perpetuity.”

Awe. Some.  Disney really is laying down some serious shit right there.  Dude, throughout the universe!! You got that??  They take a picture of you at their event and they are going to blast that shit right out into the Milky Way.  Then, to top it all off, possibly blasted in a form of media that hasn’t even been invented yet. Consider your mind blown!

AND for any purpose. So…what? You mean, you take a picture of me and then you’re going to use it for prostitution purposes in Thailand and there’s nothing I can do about it because I bought the ticket to the expo and therefore agreed to these terms and conditions even though they seem a bit extreme? Sweet. Sign me up Disney!

And “in perpetuity” which means…Eternity! *sigh*  If only a picture of me in my Mickey ears would live on forever and ever on the planet of Krypton…When you wish upon a star, right??  (“First star on your right, and straight on ’til morning!” Ok enough Disney quotes. Ok one more! My fave:)

Let your conscience be your guide,
